April 9, 2012

This morning I woke up to a not-so-nice surprise –no internet! At first I thought it was just cause our 30 days expired, but nope. It was that the entire 3rd and 4th floor internet (pretty much everyone at WPI included) was down. This was incredibly annoying for everyone. I got up about 8, then got food and attempted a run on the treadmill. After a slight warmup walk to loosen my legs I tried running and decided it was not my day, since I felt sick trying to run, so I walked for about 10 minutes and then did leg swings to loosen my legs and lifted weights a bit. Then I showered and got dressed. After getting dressed I decided what I wanted to do before I left England. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to go to Dover, which is disappointing, but I’ve done a lot and will be happy if I do the rest on my list. I then went to the National Gallery again to see some of what I missed, including Van Gogh’s Madonna on the Rocks. Then I went to the smaller National Portrait Gallery behind it where I saw  a lot of the works displayed, though focused on seeing the Tudors around the time of Elizabeth I since that is one of my favorite pieces of British History.

Once finished the Galleries, I took the Tube back to Nido for lunch, then head out again to the British Museum to finish seeing what I want to there, such as the rest of the Egypt section as well as the Assyrian and Grecian section.  So I saw a bunch more of it, and then head back to Nido. I wanted to see the Globe Theatre but it was not near any tube stops and I don’t know the buses well, so I got off at a Tube stop and then walked across Tower Bridge, then took a bus back to Liverpool Street Station. It was gross weather which is never fun. After this I had dinner and relaxed, until getting an email from the adviser’s saying that we are off track and essentially doing awful. This was not good, so the team had a meeting to discuss how we would deal with this and work on a schedule of what needed to get done this week. After that I tried skyping with Bryan via my phone but couldn’t so went to sleep.
