March 16, 2012

Today i got up at 7:30, but went back to sleep and then got up for real at 8:10 (a little late), oops! But I got ready on time so it was okay. We left for the station on time and the tube was absolutely packed. We got on and there were so many people we couldn't move. The good thing was I couldn't hold onto anything and I couldn't fall over because of the number of people. It was insane and I really hope every Friday is not like that. Finally we got off the underground and had no problems the rest of the way there. At work we got in and set up in an outer area because there were people on our room. I worked on a flier for an event going on next week that can help us transition people into asking about fuel and energy efficiency. The others worked on the reverse outline of our literature review. Eventually we got to go in our normal room, and continued our work. After the flier ,I started working on survey questions to a MP (or member of Parliament) who we are meeting with Monday, and oh yeah, it's gonna be at Portcullis House, which is part of the Parliament Building! I am so excited! So Monday we'll be working from Nido then heading over to Westminster! For lunch we had beef stew with mashed potatoes, carrots, and corn. It was good but the stew leaked into my other food a bit so I didn't eat all of it, still good though! After lunch we finished working on everything and head out about 3:30ish. But the boys had to use the bathroom and we missed our normal bus, which would have been okay but the next bus was a bit late so we missed our normal train and ended up having to wait at the train station for about 15 minutes. It was frustrating.

But after getting back and eating I ended up going with a group around London. We took the tube to King's Cross and searched for awhile for platform 9 3/4. We did see a cool area with a big lit up thing so we walked toward it, it was a swing.

The street was fun though. We wandered around the area a bit more until we gave up, moving on to Piccadilly Circus area via the crowded tube. Piccadilly was okay, but not too great. There were a couple street performers but not much else since it was late, so we moved on to Trafalgar Square and saw the corner of Hyde Park. We took some pictures around that area but Trafalgar Square looked to be setting up for an event, so we couldn't get a good view of everything. After that we walked down toward the river and saw the London Eye (lit up blue) and the Parliament Building (from a distance). After wandering around there we traveled back to Liverpool Street on the tube and finished our journey!
